Building on a proud legacy

Since 2019 we have strengthened our structure and inclusivity for a dynamic future, as custodians of Montessori intellectual property and authentic practice, now extending our vision beyond national borders.

Montessori Australia is proud of the progress we have made since 2019, building on the legacy of the Montessori Australia Foundation while enhancing our structure and inclusivity for a dynamic future. As custodians of Montessori intellectual property and authentic practice, we now extend our vision beyond national borders. We are committed to engaging with First Nations peoples from Australia and around the world, honouring their traditional wisdom and perspectives, and to embedding global sustainability principles into every facet of our work.

Our ambition is to add value to a broad spectrum of services, from early childhood and long-day care to schools and adult care, through collaborative leadership and inclusive membership. By aligning our strategic direction with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we seek to strengthen Montessori education locally and contribute to a more equitable, sustainable, and peaceful global society.

To this end, Montessori Australia has developed a triune structure which includes an administrative arm known as MAG, a not-for-profit services arm known as Montessori Australia Organisation (MAO), and an entity to safeguard IP, the Montessori Australia Assets Trust (MAAT). Developments also include the offering of several types of membership that enables everyone to participate in the organisation including directors, individual Montessori practitioners, Montessori service providers (early childhood centres, schools, aged care centres and adult care services, etc), associates such as ancillary services.
